This book provides the Greek Source of all the poems quoted on this website. Some of Campbell's commentary has also been quoted.

2. Greek Lyric Poetry - The poems and fragments of the Greek iambic,elegiac and melic poets down to 450 BC. Tranlsated with an introduction and Notes by M. L. West; Oxford University Press; 1993.

This book provides the translation of 'Confused heart', number 128 on page 11; 'The fox and the hedgehog', number 201 on page 5 and 'Men only want one thing', number 196,196a on pp 3-4.

This book provides the translation of 'My spear', number 2 on page 23 and 'A beautiful shield', number 79 on page 39.

4. Archilochus of Paros - H.D. Rankin; Noyes Press; 1977

This book provides the biographical information used on the 'context' page.

5. Archilochus - First poet after Homer; William Harris published on the World Wide Web.

This book provided a great deal of background support, particularly for the 'critique' used to justify the website. It can be accessed direct via the 'weblinks' page and was used in the commentary on 'Confused heart'
